On a journey to refining our focus as we make a more meaningful life for ourselves and our family through a simpler way of living.
Meet Nikki and Staci
Over the years, we have both spent significant time and effort learning and implementing various lifestyle changes into our routines and homes. Our goal, like many of you, is to work to provide ourselves and our families with the greatest opportunities for connection, health, happiness and overall positive lives.
With both of us being more introverted by nature, we have mostly shared our findings and experiences with family and a few friends as we have worked on refining our focus. However, we have both felt the urge to escape our comfort zone. So here we are, and we are eager to share activities, skills, recipes, tips, and more that have brought us great satisfaction and joy!
Join us in this challenge to refine our focus on faith, family, nourishing our bodies and minds, and finding the balance in hard work and rest and be prepared to love your life more than you ever thought possible!
Hey there! I’m Nikki!
My Family

I am wife to my best friend and Mom to five super awesome kids. We have four fast growing boys and a sweet little girl.
My Home
A few years ago, we found a new home with some much needed space and a good amount of land. This beautiful place has given us the opportunity to reconnect more with nature. It has also been a way for us to learn and develop skills.
We have been working together on gardening and raising animals, preserving, various DIY projects, and more. We love how this place has helped us to establish a stronger connection as a family.
A Story to Tell
We all have a story to tell. I look at my life and not much stands out as anything super special. However, I have discovered in my life that all of us have a story that is special. Everyone has a perspective on life regardless of where we come from or what we know. Since we all have a different way of seeing the world around us, we all have something to share.
My Story
My story about how I got to where I am now begins with a simple desire to learn new things. I have always recognized the importance of taking care of myself and my family. However, it’s one thing to get that and another to actually do what you know you should be doing.
I have taken time through the years to learn and research things I can do to improve my health, finances, and developing various skills that could help my family to live better and with greater self reliance.
Our family has been blessed with overall good health. None of us have had to face any major health issues in our lives. The changes we have made have been by choice, not of necessity. The more we have learned, the more we have recognized the value of real food, especially locally grown foods.
We also are seeing more and more the benefits to other positive health practices, including fitness to help improve our overall well being.
I love to learn new things and develop new skills. I also love the idea of sharing what I am learning so I can help others as well.
Things I Love:
My family…they are my favorite people.
My faith…I know that having something you believe in gives greater meaning to this life.
Organization…it helps me stay more focused and at peace in life.
Spending time in the kitchen…preparing delicious meals and baking. (I love it more when I am not alone.)
I love to learn new things and develop new skills…life is about growth and becoming more and more each day.
I’m Staci!

My Family
My husband and I both knew very quickly that we wanted to spend our lives together and have been on the most wonderful journey together ever since. We have been blessed with the additions of 3 amazing and energetic little girls and our sweet little rescue dog along the way and find great joy in this crazy, beautiful life of ours.
My Story
My husband and I have had the goal since we got married to raise chickens, have a garden, learn to can and make delicious meals from scratch. Chickens haven’t been an option, yet, but we’ve dabbled with all of the others. Over the years, this dream has expanded to include milk and beef cows, pigs, and who knows what else will be added to that list over the years.
While the goal is still very similar, my reasons for wanting to achieve it have evolved over the years. After a diagnosis of PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and being told that pills were my only option to overcome symptoms, I began doing my own research. My findings have led me to many “old-fashioned” ways of doing things to take care of my body and overall health and wellness, and, while I am still on this journey, I have experienced so much healing along the way as my symptoms have gradually begun to disappear and I have been better able to be the wife and mother that I have wanted to be as my strength and energy have picked back up again.
As a military family, some of the aspects of diving into our homesteading dream will have to wait. But, for now, we are beginning with what we CAN start on. So far, we have been loving getting to know and support local farmers, baking sourdough breads, fermenting vegetables, sipping on homemade kefir, grinding our own grains, making some of our own cleaning and hygiene products and the list has been expanding as we continue to learn more and more about proper nourishment and self-sufficiency.
The joy and fulfillment that have come from making these changes have made every bit of hard work completely worth it!
