For our May Focus, we are challenging you as well as ourselves, to work on GARDENING. We are at various levels of gardening here, so whatever your skillset, challenge yourself to either get out there and just try it out, or work to make some improvements or try growing something different.
If you are new here, learn more about The Refining Our Focus Challenge here.

Ok…this could be interesting.
Gardening just so happens to be a weakness for BOTH of us! Yikes! Let’s get out there and do it anyway!
Although this has been a struggle for us, one of the great things about gardening is that you learn more and more each time you go for it, even if the thing you learn is what NOT to do next time. We are hoping to reap some delicious rewards from our efforts but will also be grateful for any learning experiences as well.
HAPPY GARDENING!!
What Are We Doing?
Staci – We typically plant tomatoes, zucchini and bell peppers with some success, but not much. I am sure that will be happening again this year, just hopefully with better success. That is also something my husband likes to take on and keeps up with. This year he’s adding some flowers, herbs, carrots, potatoes, and onions and maybe a few other things.
While he focuses more on that, I’ll be helping, but placing most of my focus on growing some indoor herbs! I love having fresh basil around. Although, I have already killed one basil plant, so I will be reading more about harvesting correctly this time. I also want to grow cilantro (yum!!!), parsley and chives. Hoping I can keep them going year-round!

Nikki – We have a nice chunk of land that is suitable for gardening. So far, we’ve established a few fruit trees and bushes and built some garden boxes. We’re thrilled with the success we have had growing squash, potatoes, and hot peppers – all of which we love!
My focus this year is to work on our ability to grow tomatoes successfully. Our family was given a challenge by one of the local Master Gardeners to take one of each of the tomato variety plants they started to plant at home.
The challenge includes not only growing the tomatoes, but testing them and reporting what we think about each of them. I am excited for this opportunity as it will help me to be more motivated to take good care of the tomatoes and hopefully we will have good success. I also want to create a beautiful herb garden.
What Will You Be Doing?
We are excited to hear about your progress on Facebook, Instagram or comment below and share what YOU plan to focus on this month. If you are also going to work in the garden or plant some seeds, we would love to hear what you are doing and if you have any pictures to share, that would be awesome! If you have another area of focus, we would love to hear about that as well!
The beauty of this challenge is that (hopefully) you will get to reap lots of rewards from your hard work! Let’s get out there and get our gardens growing!
